40 Days of Prayer for THE STORY
Day 28- Monday, August 22nd: Pray that we would experience deeper relationships and changed lives.
“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believer…” Ephesians 1: 17-19a
Day 29- Tuesday, August 23rd: Ask God to lead us to those in our neighborhoods who need Jesus.
“’You are the light of the world.’ …let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-15
Day 30- Wednesday, August 24th: Pray that God will bring groups together to share The Story.
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding.” Colossians 1:9
Day 31- Thursday, August 25th: Ask God for spiritual protection for our leaders and participants.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Ephesians 6:12
Day 32- Friday, August 26th: Pray that participants will have a renewed desire to pursue spiritual habits in their lives.
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:2a
Day 33- Saturday, August 27th: Pray for each person to have a servant’s heart and to serve wherever needed.
“Whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first must be your slave – just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Matthew 20:26b-28
Day 34- Sunday, August 28th: Praise God for the hearts that will be changed by this study.
“Create in me a pure heart , O God…” Psalm 51: 10 a
Summer Teaching Series
This Summer we have decided to take on all of the small, often forgotten books in the Scriptures. We are calling our series “One Hit Wonders.” We will be traveling through the Bible and teaching on the small, but just as important prophetic books and epistles God has for us.
These books may have less words, but they carry a heavy punch. Be ready to be challenged and informed by these books that you may not have studied in a long time or possibly not at all. Join us for these “One Hit Wonders”.
August 28th Jude (461 words)

The two vacant teaching slots for our Children’s ministry have been filled! Thank you to those volunteers and all our others for their love and dedication to our children!
To prepare your heart and mind for next Sunday’s message, Read the book of Jude…
-Jude was James and Jesus’ brother, what would it be like to be Jesus’ brother?
-What do we know about how Jesus’ family initially thought about Jesus’ claims and ministry?
-What does verse three tell us about the reason for writing and purpose of this letter?
*As you travel through the rest of this book, remember Jude is referring to false people “in the church”.
-Describe the characteristics of whom he is referring to in verse 4.
-What false doctrines were these people pushing?
-What are the three examples from verses 5-7 and how did God deal with each group?
-Verse 8 describes 3 ways these falsepeople harm others, what are some similar actions today?
-What can we glean from verse 9 about the power of Satan & how does that apply to you?
-Where do you see similar actions today that are described in verse 10?
*Verses 11-16 has Old Testament references, our survey of The Story will help us all with references like these.
-What does Jude remind his readers of in verses 17-18 about these people who claim Christ?
-How do you see people today following “their own ungodly desires”?
-What are the next three descriptions of these people mentioned in verse 19?
-Verses 20-23 gives us a list of responses to these false influences mentioned above, list them and describe each one.
-The last two verses of Jude gives us a wonderful doxology, what claims is he making about Christ?
